The screening of films created within the Atelier Pelikula project enriched this year’s festival edition.
Organised by the Poreč Public Open University, the International Documentary Film Festival PorečDox takes place in Poreč from 8 to 15th of November. The festival presents audiences with more than twenty contemporary documentary films from Croatia and around the world, accompanied by a diverse and rich additional programme. Held at the cinema of the Poreč Public Open University, PorečDox has for fifteen consecutive years brought together recent film titles, many of them premiered in 2024 and 2025.

This year’s edition of the festival also introduced several programme innovations, most notably the Local OFF programme. As part of this segment, a screening of films created within the international project Atelier Pelikula was held on the second day of the festival. The project was implemented in partnership by the associations Sonda, Filmaktiv and Primi Piani APS, together with the Municipality of Vižinada. Through workshops and mentorship, the project encouraged young people’s engagement in filmmaking, bringing together around twenty participants from Istria, Rijeka and Monfalcone, as well as members of immigrant communities from Ukraine and the Middle East.
On Sunday, audiences had the opportunity to watch short films by young authors from diverse cultural and life backgrounds – Brothers, Letters to Shahidul, The Hunter in Life and Panzano in My Home. Through personal stories and authentic perspectives, these films demonstrated how filmmaking can become a powerful space for encounter, understanding and dialogue.
With the screening of films created within the Atelier Pelikula project, PorečDox further confirmed its role as a festival platform that, alongside outstanding international documentaries, consistently opens space for new authors and for local and regional film initiatives.
