ABC’s of Design 2025

A series of educational workshops engaged 115 children from Vižinada and the surrounding area.

During 2025, we continued implementing the educational project ABC’s of Design, aimed at fostering children’s creativity and visual literacy, conducted in collaboration with the Croatian Designers Association from Zagreb. Within the project, nine free workshops were held, with a total of 115 children participating.

The workshops were organized in cooperation with preschools and elementary schools in Vižinada and nearby areas and focused on design, ecology, and creative work. Through hands-on activities, children became familiar with the basics of graphic design, including the creation of various visual materials. Special emphasis was placed on developing creative thinking and understanding design as a tool for expressing ideas, as well as reflecting on their relationship with the environment.

One of the workshops was also dedicated to the camera obscura. During this session, children explored how light and shadow shape perspective, created their own simple models, and learned how this fundamental optical principle led to the emergence of modern photography. This activity naturally combined technical understanding of light with creative expression and visual perception.

Throughout the project, around one hundred children’s works were created, some of which were further developed with the help of AI technology, allowing children to see their ideas realized in a tangible, final form.

The ABC’s of Design program is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia and the Municipality of Vižinada.
