From sketch to reality with Tar-Vabriga students

In yet another Dizajnerska početnica workshop, we explored what creativity is and how to use it.

As part of their Civic Education curriculum, fifth-grade students from Tar-Vabriga Elementary School, accompanied by their teacher Marina Dželaljia Jakominić, visited the Sonda Creative Center to participate in Dizajnerska početnica – an educational program aimed at encouraging design thinking among children and youth. The program is conducted in collaboration with the Croatian Designers Association from Zagreb and Studio Sonda.

During their visit, the students first toured the Creative Center and learned about the design studio’s workflow – from the initial idea to the final product. Through an engaging presentation, they discovered the history of Studio Sonda, its key projects, and recognizable design solutions already familiar to them from everyday life.

The most exciting part came when the students stepped into the role of designers themselves and created a visual concept for a new beverage can. After a short introduction, they eagerly got to work, thinking through the name, colors, message, and overall look of their product. To wrap things up, we demonstrated how artificial intelligence can transform their ideas into a complete visual design.

Dizajnerska početnica is designed to introduce children to the world of design in a simple, engaging, and accessible way, while fostering critical thinking, visual literacy, and awareness of the design that surrounds us every day.

We sincerely thank the students and their teacher for their visit, as well as for the joy, curiosity, and creativity they brought with them. We’re delighted that their time in the Creative Center was inspiring and hope they’ll return again – with new questions, ideas, and projects!
