EU Project “SmallAble” brings youth from five countries to Sonda

On November 24th, we will welcome a delegation of partners from the EU project “SMALLABLE,” implemented by LAG “Northern Istria” in partnership with organizations from Italy, Hungary, Spain, and Portugal, within the EU CERV-2022-TOWNS-NT (Citizens-Equality-Rights-Values) program.

The project’s goal is the revitalization of rural areas and the prevention of depopulation by engaging young people aged 18-35 in active citizenship mechanisms and encouraging them to take an active role in their communities. In line with the project objective, the delegation includes representatives from partner municipalities Monte San Martino (Italy), Cilleros (Spain), San Martin de Trevejo (Spain), Fundao (Portugal), Sobral de Sao Miguel (Portugal), Pecsely (Hungary), and the Italian LAG Media Valle del Tevere, along with young people from the participating areas.

The project will run for 24 months and is currently in its second phase, called WORKING SMALLABLE, which focuses on working with young people, connecting them, encouraging critical thinking about societal issues, and creating new opportunities.

The program for the working visit in our LAG area focuses on three main topics:

  1. Entrepreneurial initiatives in rural areas
  2. Digital and creative industries in rural areas
  3. EU projects as drivers of rural development

Participation in the working visit program is partially open to the public (youth aged 18-35), who will have the opportunity to take part in thematic workshops (entrepreneurship, creativity, branding, EU projects, active citizenship, strengthening civil society). This will provide participants with numerous opportunities to develop new knowledge and skills, as well as future travel to visit partners and exchange experiences.
