First Designer’s Beginner in 2025.

As part of the field trip, students from the Civic Education program of Tar-Vabriga Primary School visited the Sonda Creative Center in Vižinada, where they participated in a creative workshop with their teacher, Marina Dželalija Jakominić.

The Designer’s Beginner workshop was opened by Jelena Fiškuš and Sean Poropat, who introduced the work of Sonda Studio and explained the importance of design in everyday life.

Jelena introduced the students to the activities of Sonda Studio, and then Sean explained what design encompasses, why it is important, and how to broaden one’s perspective on the design that surrounds us. The students were then challenged to design an ecological chair, considering the entire process – from the idea and design to realization, delivery to the customer, and recycling of the product after use. Their solutions were diverse and creative, with each student having the opportunity to present their work.

Design decisions are made daily all around the world, so now more than ever, it is important to raise awareness of its significance and responsibility to follow ecological principles and align with sustainable development for individuals and their environment. This field trip provided the students with a unique opportunity for hands-on learning, inspiring them to become active participants in environmental preservation and the development of innovative design solutions.

The Designer’s Beginner program is implemented in collaboration with the Croatian Designers Society (HDD) from Zagreb and Studio Sonda, with support from the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia.
