Designer’s Beginner Course at Sonda: Packaging design

In collaboration with the Croatian Designers Association (HDD), Sonda is organizing the first series of workshops on design for children in Vižinada.

The workshop on Packaging Design will be led by Jelena Fiškuš and Sean Poropat, creative directors and founders of Studio Sonda, an independent design and communication studio that has won numerous national and international awards to date.

Although the work of a designer is not always an easy task, this workshop will show how it can sometimes be a fun, childlike game. In the role of young designers, and in a manner suitable for their age, children will be introduced to design elements during two sessions. With a little will, creativity, and imagination, which they certainly have in abundance, they will conceptualize and paint their own packaging for their favorite treat – ice cream. Rather than starting with a problem, this creative play, centered on idea development, will teach children to find a solution starting from a general goal, giving them a broader perspective and a wider range of ideas. For participation in the workshop, children need nothing more than a good attitude, a table, and a chair. Hence, they immediately encounter a practical challenge at the start of the workshop by assembling special chairs.

The workshop will take place over two sessions: Wednesday, April 27, and Friday, April 29, 2022, starting at 10:30 AM. A group of ten children from the Vižinada Kindergarten will participate. The workshops are free and will be conducted in the presence of a pedagogue, lasting one and a half hours.

And for everyone interested in seeing what happens when children’s play transforms into real little design pieces, there will be an exhibition showcasing the children’s works. This will be held on Thursday, May 5, starting at 4:00 PM.
